Masterpiece by Myana Masterpiece by Myana
This is my masterpiece and my pride!
In Sweden it is tradition to do a furniture, a masterpice that will be judged and graded, as a final exam.
This tradition goes way back in the 15th century, and then you couldn't open your own joinery/ carpentry before doing your masterpiece. It not as strict anymore, but the diploma you get if you pass shows and guarantees to your future customers a certain level of craftmansship.

Cabinet in birch.
Cabinet with three drawers, three loose shelfs and a convex door

Certainly a piece I would love to have in my home; the "clippers" are a great addition and as the suggester states, "What's so striking about this piece is the stunning convex door and that the only reason she didn't get a perfect mark was for minor things, like being off by only 3/10 of a millimeter around the drawers. 3/10 of a millimeter ?!?!"

This is beautiful!   is that a veneer?  What kind of wood and finish did you use to get the grain to pop like that?

This is a nice piece of furniture. The proportions are beautiful and the grain in the veneering is in harmony with the whole piece. Accurate work, indeed.

Did you study where? At Malmsten's?
What does Mayna think of Krenov's work?

I myself, am a woodworking-student drop-out in sense what comes to modern cabinet making.

Ah well, I studied for years, and got my degree in music performance, but still was never as good as I wanted to be either! But a fine instrument is still a thing of beauty, and taught me to appreciate woodworking in many forms.

I took woodwork in the ninth grade and all I have to show for it is a shelf, a clock and a slightly stranger looking finger than what I was born with. ;)

This is fantastic! It's so beautiful, and the structure is really complimented by the woodgrain.

Amazing!

Outstanding piece of cabinetry. You have every right to be proud of your achievement. It truly is a "Masterpiece"
From what I can see, your joinery and dovetailing are superb. Good luck in your quest for a full time job and/or your own cabinet shop.

Also, best wishes with your other masterpiece, the ';project'. The joys of parenthood will far exceed the other pleasures you have derived from woodworking.

I am currently employed at a small cabinetry, where we manufacture custom furnitures and interiors and love it there :)

Thank you kindly! I'm getting very anxious to meet the lil fellow :D

wood work is such a magical art. My brother in law has picked it up and has a wood shop in his house now. I love the beauty of wood. A friend loves to craft and he has done a few pens for me. I have one from a gorgeous redish african wood, snake wood, phesant wood and some really rare hawaiian woods.

I know your humble but Ill just say it. Your a gem and amazing person! All you do and all you are! You make sure you cover that little one with all your special ways and artistic magic!
